Who is Ex-Boyfriend?
Ex-Boyfriend is the illustrator who creates cool drawings to adorn your tees and accessories. Many people ask where the nickname came from. Yes, more than a few ladies call me their ex (although I am now happily coupled up) but really the name was inspired by my first series of t-shirt designs. I liked the idea of t-shirts as conversation pieces, tees you could wear to a bar that would encourage that cute guy or girl next to you to actually say hello and ask you about your shirt. I wanted a brand name that would be a little flirty, provacative, sexy and cute. Something that reflected my design aesthetic. Those first tees can now be found in my flirtastic collection. These are tees you could wear to rack up a few of your own exes. Although my line has expanded tremendously and I take on all kinds of subjects in my illustrations these days, I still like to think I'm not just clothing people, I'm producing unique, wearable pop art that invites conversation.

Since I'm better at drawing pictures than printing tees, I work with a professional indie print shop to produce the items available on this website. I can't say enough about how happy I am to have a really talented independent print shop to work with. They bring my designs to life in ways my printing skills could never achieve and I know you'll be as delighted as I have been with their work.

Where does Ex-Boyfriend get his inspiration?
Pop art, pop culture, zoos, Animal Planet, super villains, Food Network, the produce department, lady friends, lady enemies, b-movies, sci-fi, cartoons, Adult Swim and comics.

What else does Ex-Boyfriend like to do besides draw pictures?
Cook, read comics, listen to music, bake cookies, rescue animals, make out.

What TV, books, music and movies does Ex-Boyfriend love the most?
TV: Oh boy, I watch too much TV. I really like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Weeds, Entourage, What Not To Wear, Good Eats, Top Chef, Project Runway (does this make me less manly?), Pushing Daisies, Dexter, Heroes, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Harvey Birdman, Frisky Dingo, Venture Brothers, Home Movies. (Also, although they are canceled now, I did enjoy Freaks and Geeks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Veronica Mars, Wonderfalls, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Six Feet Under)

Books: I read a lot of comics, favorites are Daredevil, Y the Last Man, Lucifer, Captain America and Green Lantern. I also enjoyed The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Auto-Biography of Malcom X, How Soon is Never?, To Major Tom, High Fidelity, and Blankets.

Music: I own over 1,500 CDs and have a jam packed ipod so I listen to a lot of music. Some of my favorites include The Smiths, Blur, Idlewild, The Sundays, The Ramones, The Radio Dept, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, The Cure, The Jesus and Mary Chain, New Order, Afghan Wigs, The Replacements, Elliott Smith, Belle and Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub, The Lemonheads, and whatever my lady friends include on mix cds for me.

No, that shit pisses me off. Copying images off of this site and using them to make knock-offs for fun or profit is stealing. If you really want to wear an Ex-Boyfriend tee, please just buy one here. Your knock off isn't going to turn out as nicely as the prints we're able to produce and stealing my drawings isn't cool. Also, please consider that a portion of the money made on this website supports animal rescues so that makes the stealing extra uncool.

How are Ex-Boyfriend products made?
Ex-Boyfriend products are printed using a variety of professional printing techniques guaranteed to deliver stylish, high quality t-shirts and accessories for you. Some of the technology we use includes flex/flock, screen printing and direct to garment printing. We use the latest techniques and technology to produce professional results and we're confident you'll be as pleased as we are with our prints.

What kind of shirts does Ex-Boyfriend print on and how do they fit?
Mens Organic Tees - Manufactured by Anvil, with a regular fit.

Ladies Organic Tees - Manufactured by Anvil with a slim modern fit.

Mens Long Sleeve and Slim Fit Tees - Printed on American Apparel with a slimmer modern fit. You may want to order a size up if you are not used to wearing this brand of tee, as it has a slimmer fit than most standard brands.

Mens Tees - Printed on Gildan Ultra Cotton with a regular fit, not too tight, not too loose. Order a size down for a tigher fit, order a size up for a baggy fit.

Ladies Short and Long Sleeve Tees - Manufactured by Bella, these tees are a little more slim fitting, if you want a baggier shirt order a size up.

Kids Tees - These Gildan Youth tees have a looser fit for your little guy's comfort.

Hoodies - Manufactured by Independent, our hoodies have a regular hoodie fit, fairly loose so you can wear layers underneath and keep warm.

We have a sizing chart on every product page of this site and models wearing our tees to help you get an idea of the fit. Please don't email me your height and weight and pictures of yourself and ask me to recommend a t-shirt size for you. (Seriously, this is called frequently asked questions for a reason and you'd be amazed at what people ask me sometimes.)

I love this shirt I saw on your site but I absolutely have to have it printed on my favorite brand on blank tee, can you please help me?
We'll try. Drop us a line and let us know what you're looking for. If our supplier has your preferred brand available we can probably do a custom print for you.

I see you have some organic items. Why aren't ALL the products on this site organic?
We'd love to offer a 100% organic product line and at some point in the future this may be a possibility. Currently companies producing blank t-shirts have an extremely limited selection of organic products and they all have a fairly high price point. To continue to offer tees at a lower price point and in a larger variety of colors, we're continuing to offer our traditional cotton tees along with our organic line.

What's up with your awesome, professional-looking product photos? Aren't you supposedly "indie"? How can I be sure the print quality of your shirts and messenger bags is up to my standards?
Well, the thing is, my abilities behind the camera are pretty woeful. I know nothing about lighting, angles, or staging. I'm an illustrator, not a photographer. s(Anyone want to offer me free photography lessons?) What I do know is that my designs are awesome, and as such, deserve to be viewed in the most visually appealing way possible. My photography skills just can't do the shirts justice. That being said, I'm pretty decent with the PhotoShop and use it to present my designs very accurately. Plus, I stand behind the quality of the shirts I use and the prints we produce 100%. Otherwise I wouldn't offer you my sweet return policy! I just don't have the time between creating designs and processing orders to take photos of myself in the bathroom mirror all day, especially since each item is printed to order. If you're still desperate to see dimly-lit, fuzzy photos of my tees...sorry. Internet shopping probably isn't for you.

Questions About Gift Cards

Do I have to pay sales tax on my gift card?
No. Sales tax is charged based on where products are shipped. If the gift card is being used to purchase products that are shipping to California or Maryland then sales tax would apply at that time.

Can I use a coupon code to purchase a gift card?
No. Coupon codes do not apply to the purchase of gift cards. Your gift card recipient can use a coupon code when he or she redeems the gift card.

Are gift cards returnable?
No, we do not issue refunds for gift cards.

How do I purchase multiple gift cards?
Visit our gift card page and add the first card to your cart, then return to the gift card page to add your second card to your cart. Repeat this process until you've added all the cards to your cart that you wish to purchase.

I ordered a gift card but never actually received the gift card?
Our orders are batch processed so it can take a few hours for a gift card email to be delivered. If you do not receive your gift card email within 12 hours please contact us and we'll figure out what's going on.

I ordered a gift card for a friend, how do I know they received it?
You will receive a confirmation email when the gift card is delivered. If you do not see that email within 12 hours please contact us. Be sure to check your spam folder to make sure the confirmation did not wind up in there.

Rush Delivery

Can I get my order shipped overnight?
Maybe. We're able to offer you a huge selection of tees by printing everything to order. The downside to that is that it typically takes 3-7 business days to ship an order. If you need us to rush an order please drop us a line and we'll let you know if it will be possible. Mostly it will depend on what the inventory is like in our warehouse. If we can accomodate you, we absolutely will. Please try to plan ahead and at least give us a few days to get your order to you. We'll do what we can to help you out. If you need instant gratification, you also might want to consider our gift cards. They're perfect for that last minute birthay you forgot about since your gift recipient can pick exactly what they want.

Questions About Returns and Cancellations

What if I am unhappy with my order? Do you accept returns?
Yes, please visit our returns page to arrange for a return. Returns must be made within 30 days of delivery. Returned merchandise must be in new, unwashed condition in order to receive a refund. We cannot refund shipping fees. We cannot accept returns of items with obvious signs of use. This includes items that smell like perfume or cigarette smoke. If your item is returned in "used" condition and you want it returned to you, you will need to pay for the return shipping.

If we make a mistake (send you the wrong size or color, or there is a problem with your print, etc), we will send you a replacement free of charge.

We cannot accept returns on custom items but we will correct any mistakes made on our part with custom orders.

Can I cancel my order?
If your order has not yet shipped, we can cancel the order for you. If your order has already shipped and you no longer want your item(s) please just return them once they arrive and we'll issue a refund (less the shipping charges). To find out of your order has shipped, please contact us.

Questions About Ordering, Payment and Order Status

How can I check my order status?
USA - you will receive a delivery confirmation tracking number when your order is shipped. It's possible that this email may get into your junk/spam folder so be sure to check there. If you do not receive an email with delivery confirmation tracking number for a US order within 7 business days please contact us.

CANADA - if you've chosen priority shipping you will receive a delivery confirmation tracking number when your order is shipped. It's possible that this email may get into your junk/spam folder so be sure to check there. If you do not receive an email with delivery confirmation tracking number for your order within 7 business days please contact us. If you've chosen First Class shipping we cannot provide orders status since that shipping method does not give us a tracking number. Canada Post can be extremely slow and we have seen instances of packages being delivered 2 months after we've shipped. If you've chosen this method of shipment please keep this in mind. We unfortunately can't do anything to speed this up.

INTERNATIONAL - if you've chosen Priority shipping you will receive a delivery confirmation tracking number when your order is shipped. IMPORTANT TO NOTE: it can take us an average of 3-7 business days to get an order in the mail. We try to get your order to you as quickly as possible, but sometimes high order volume can slow things down a little. Please keep in mind that your shirt will be printed to order just for you and we're a small, indie, t-shirt shop so as much as we'd like to ship your item the minute you order it, we just can't do that.

What payments do you accept?
For customers in the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom: We accept Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express.

For all other customers, we can only accept Paypal payments at this time. You do not need to have a Paypal account to make a payment with Paypal.

Do I have to pay sales tax?
Only if your order is being mailed to a California or Maryland address.

Questions About Shipping with the USA

How are your items shipped?
US orders for apparel are shipped via USPS. For orders under 13 ounces (i.e. just one tee) we use first class mail, heavier orders are mailed via priority mail. Priority mal guarantees deliery in 2-3 business days. First class mail does not guaratee delivery time, however the estimated delivery time from USPS is 2-3 days, so basically you'll probably get your order in about the same time with either shipping method. We ship lighter orders using first class mail so we can offer you cheaper shipping. If you need an order rushed, just drop us a line or call us at 801-923-8337 and we'll do what we can to help. All belt, art print, magnet and/or bottle opener orders are shipped via first class mail. Belts, art prints, bottle openers and magnets shipped from a separate warehouses and will be delivered separately from other items featured on this site.

This includes the time it takes us to print your order, pack it up and for Canada Post to actually bring it to your door. If you need an item for a birthday or Christmas this is the most reliable way to get it delivered on time.

Canada First Class - This shipping method does not provide package tracking so please do not ask us to provide shipment status as we won't be able to do so. The only information we will be able to provide is a customs form number. This delivery method can take considerably longer than Priority mail. We have had very mixed results with shipping to Canada. Some orders have arrived within a week, some orders have taken well over a month. This shipping method can take up to 8 weeks. We recommend using Priority instead of First Class mail since it is faster and more reliable.

How much does shipping to Canada cost?
