You all know how I love kitties and puppies, but how cute are these snow monkeys, just chilling in a hot spring? I thought Fuzzy Friday would be a perfect time to talk about my upcoming SPCA fundraiser. Those of you who’ve been hanging around these parts for a while may remember last year. Between mid-March and mid-April, I raised over $1,300 for the critters by donating 100% of the revenue from the sale of my keychain bottle openers to the MD SPCA. This year I want to raise even more.
So here’s what’s on deck and how you can help:
1. I’m organizing a pack to walk at the MD SPCA’s March for the Animals. The event is Sunday, April 17th, in Baltimore’s Druid Hill park. It’s a fun day and there are always lots of cute animals on parade. There are loads of dogs but I’ve seen other beasties including giant iguanas. So cool! If you’re in the B’more area and you think you can talk your friends into coughing up a few bucks for the SPCA and you want to hang out with me at the event, join my pack. I’d love to hang with some of you awesome Ex-BF fans and feature you right here on the blog.
2. Last year I donated 100% of the revenue from the sale of keychain bottle openers to the MD SPCA. So many of you guys bought them (because you are best ever). But now you all have keychains, so I want to hook you up with something new. This year I am thinking about offering the following items.
Vote for the one you'd be most likely to order
P.S. If you want to feel motivated to help some animals in need, just check out this tear jerker of a tale about a dog named Wonder.
The MD SPCA’s March for the Animals was yesterday. I am pleased to report that I was able to raise $1,310.00 for them this year. A big thanks to my friends, family and Ex-Boyfriend customers who made donations, spread the word about this fundraiser and purchased bottle openers to support the cause. Below are a few pictures of some of the cute critters that came out for the event.
The party was pretty dog-centric, but I guess kitties aren’t known for getting out and about. That said, some critters just love to defy the norm. Thus, I love this story about Kitty. She’s on a 3 year hike with her humans across the Americas. She spends her days chilling under an umbrella attached to her human’s back pack. Adorable! This is one well-traveled kitty.

About 2 weeks ago I mentioned that I am doing a special fundraiser for the MD SPCA. To help raise more cash for the critters I’ve released a new line of bottle opener keychains. Purchase one any time before April 17th and 100% of the net profits will be donated to the MD SPCA. The bottle openers will ship separately from apparel so rather than charge you guys for shipping twice, we’re just shipping bottle openers for FREE.
So please order a bottle opener. Spread the word, tell your friends, Tweet it, Facebook it, etc. You can put one of these on your key ring, in your bar or hang onto them to give as hostess gifts or holiday stocking stuffers.
You can also make a direct donation to the MD SPCA on my March for the Animals page.
Every year the MD SPCA has a March for the Animals to help raise funds for its animal rescue efforts. Although they are a Maryland area charity, they lend aid to rescues all around, taking in rescues from neighboring states and sometimes even further afield. If you hang around here often, you know animal charities are a cause near and dear to my heart and that we donate a portion of the profits from this website to those causes.
If you’d like to help us help the beasts, please consider helping us out for this fundraiser and making a donation. Every little bit helps, and as always purchases on this site help us raise funds for the animals.
We’ll be collecting for the March For the Animals fundraiser now through April 17th. Look for some special fundraiser merchandise to go on sale in the next couple of weeks.
| We had a nice weekend here in the mid-Atlantic. The rain let up a bit so we could take our foster puppy for a long walk and check out all the pretty cherry blossoms. We returned the foster puppy to the SPCA Saturday and she’s already been adopted! We had no doubt, since she was as cute as she was mischievous. After we returned the pup, my girl said “We are going to clean this house like a murder scene.” It took the rest of the day, but the house is now immaculate, and our cat is delighted to have the place to himself again. |
