File under “Adorable”: This was submitted to Daily Picks and Flicks last week with the caption “After not seeing my dog for five months, I Skyped with him last night. My mom sent me this picture after we disconnected.”

Meredith has been on my case for over a year to buy or develop a kitty phone so we can keep in touch with Oliver when we’re out of town (Bigby is a bitey jerk who’s only here for the free food—we’re pretty sure he hates us), but Skype seems like a better method thanks to the video capability.

Cue the “awws”! The photo below was captured during a pipeline explosion in Nanjing, China, which killed 13 people and injured 300. What you see is a monkey saving a small puppy from the explosion by carrying him to safety. So cute! Just one more reason to love critters.

We had a nice weekend here in the mid-Atlantic. The rain let up a bit so we could take our foster puppy for a long walk and check out all the pretty cherry blossoms. We returned the foster puppy to the SPCA Saturday and she’s already been adopted! We had no doubt, since she was as cute as she was mischievous. After we returned the pup, my girl said “We are going to clean this house like a murder scene.” It took the rest of the day, but the house is now immaculate, and our cat is delighted to have the place to himself again.
