OK, guys. I don’t have anything particularly witty or clever to say about this ad. Sometimes there just are no words.
But in this case, there are. Five of them.
Japanese. Darth. Vader. Cell. Phone.
Actually, here’s a brief summation of my thoughts on this ad: It’s not as if this is the weirdest Japanese ad in the world. In fact, it’s pretty tame, apart from the the unexplained presence of Vader—is he a metaphor? What does he symbolize? Is the phone called “The Sith”, or “The Darth” or something? I can’t tell. But I just love the fact that the commercial’s director can’t just do a straight ad—he/she just can’t resist ratcheting up the Japanese-bizarreness quotient around the 40-second mark with Mr. Over-exaggerated Elvis Hair.
This commercial made me just a little misty-eyed. I’m rarely fazed by car commercials but this one is so good, that if I were in the market for a car, I think I’d at least have to test drive a Leaf. Check out the adorable ad below:
Thanks to all who entered my Drinkwel giveaway. The prize goes to Deanna McBatman. Sounds like she’ll need some Drinkwel after a night of vodka and blue koolaid
As excited as I am for my upcoming European vacation (May cannot arrive soon enough), stuff like this just serves to make me pine for a Tokyo visit in the near future.
Budlight isn’t good beer, but their marketing is pretty amazing. This commercial is epic and clearly never intended for TV, but who needs it. This commercial is floating all over the internets. Enjoy the LOLz (sorta not safe for work).
We bake a lot of cupcakes here at Ex-Boyfriend HQ and if there’s one thorn in our side, it’s getting hot cupcakes out their pan. In a perfect world our imaginary Upcake Baking Cups would exist. Actually, they probably will, and Reynolds will probably steal our invention, but we don’t have a third world factory full of children to make stuff for us, so that makes it tough for us to act on the idea ourselves. Also, we like making tees more anyway. This doesn’t mean we don’t like making funny commercials, so below is the commercial you’d see on TVs nationwide if we could make our Upcakes a reality.
I am going to be honest with you, some cupcakes were harmed in the filming of this video. But their deaths were not in vain. They went on to feed some hungry squirrels.
