In case you missed it, a few weeks back the hot vid-of-the-day at YouTube was this cat spinning around on a Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner. It was no ninja cat or talking kittens, but hey, they can’t all be. Today, however, the gauntlet was thrown down. In an apparent effort to unseat Roomba cat from the top of robotic-vacuum-riding-cat hill, these young turks have essentially guaranteed that Roomba Cat MkI will rapidly fade into obscurity, with his only claim to fame being that he was first. Because these guys are ADORABLE. I love my full-grown cat Oliver, who is the handsomest of all beasts, but much like rock always beats scissors, kitten ALWAYS beats cat.
The best part of this video is how it actually illustrates a playground favorite: When kids would pile onto the merry-go-round, and one would spin it as fast as possible, gradually causing the weaker kids to fly off until the strongest remained. MITTENS IS STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!
I heard something kind of amazing on the radio the other day, as I flipped stations a DJ said “you’ve just listened to 60 straight minutes of non-stop music. Mostly because due to the unprecedented economic climate, we can’t get anyone to buy advertising.” This was one of those commercial Clear Channel stations too, not some obscure indie channel only selling ads to local tattoo and pizza places.
P.S. I am glad Obama is sticking it to the corporate monsters who continue to buy themselves toys with bail out money, like corporate jets. I just don’t see why he didn’t call Citibank out by name. I appreciate that Obama is a nice guy, but really I think being a little bit more of a dick is in order in this “unprecedented economic climate.”
We bake a lot of cupcakes here at Ex-Boyfriend HQ and if there’s one thorn in our side, it’s getting hot cupcakes out their pan. In a perfect world our imaginary Upcake Baking Cups would exist. Actually, they probably will, and Reynolds will probably steal our invention, but we don’t have a third world factory full of children to make stuff for us, so that makes it tough for us to act on the idea ourselves. Also, we like making tees more anyway. This doesn’t mean we don’t like making funny commercials, so below is the commercial you’d see on TVs nationwide if we could make our Upcakes a reality.
I am going to be honest with you, some cupcakes were harmed in the filming of this video. But their deaths were not in vain. They went on to feed some hungry squirrels.
A friend forwarded these to me this afternoon, and I’m a little torn. While some of the paint jobs on these cute guys are technically impressive (and, in the case of Skele-cat, kinda bad-ass), the fact that it costs, on average, $15,000 to do this every three months is a) despicably ostentatious, especially considering the current economic plight we all face, and b) implies the cats probably don’t like the procedure—nothing quick and comfortable is ever that expensive.
That being said, making kitty turds an interactive piece of performance art as they squeeze out and become Charlie Chaplin’s “necktie” is pretty freaking hilarious.
If you’ve made a habit of visiting Ex-Boyfriend, you’ll notice our new layout today. I hope you like it as much as I do. The new look is in honor of our new partnership with an indie printer. Our new printer will be printing all the lovely tees you see on this site (and some other merch too that’s soon to come).
I am pretty excited about our new printer and thrilled with the quality of their prints. I am sure you will be too. The other good news is that we have a really great new range of blanks for you to choose from. Our new printer stocks an great variety blank tees in a ton of colors and sizes so everyone can look stylish while rocking the Ex-Boyfriend look.
Lots of new designs are coming soon, but in the meantime have a look around and be sure to tell your friends.
Our cat, Oliver, has been quite the sullen little critter since his sister died. We’re unsure of what to do for him. We’ve tried to console him with mounds of catnip and treats and head rubs. He mostly sulks and refuses to purr. We plan to get him a new sibling at some point but I think everyone needs more time.
Right now we’re kind of busy gearing up for working with our awesome new indie printer. Cafe Press is going away and we’re going to offer a fabulous new rainbow of tees. All new illustrations are on hold until that project is complete, so stay tuned for all the new good stuff. It is on the way.
